In June IJF established a new partnership with The Jazz Angels (www.jazzangels.org), a non-for profit organization based in Long Beach, California dedicated to empowering young musicians and preserving Jazz music

IJF donated a grant to help start the The Jazz Angels – Jazz Legacy Program featuring a year-long tribute to Illinois Jacquet. The program is designed to teach young musicians how to play Illinois Jacquet’s music and learn about his legacy and passion for jazz education

The first event held in June, “Jazz on the Patio”, was a virtual concert featuring the Jazz Angels – Illinois Jacquet All-Star band playing a wonderfully inspired rendition of “Flying Home”. The Introduction by Dr. Pamela Jacquet Davis and performance can be seen at the 24:00 minute mark, click here.
